Below you will answer questions to estimate your Salesforce project.

Please keep the following in mind:

  1. We are making assumptions for the tasks for an average project.
  2. We charge by the hour and are estimating the number of hours we think these tasks will take. We do our best to provide estimates.
  3. We charge $175 per hour.
  4. We will charge for actual time. If takes less time we charge less hours. If we estimate a task will take more than 20% of the estimate already approved we will notify for approval before moving forward.
  5. You can make assumptions about the estimated hours if you think you need more or less time than the average you can make a mental note about that.
  6. If you need something more than what is outlined in questions below you can start with this if you want and then schedule a scoping call to review your needs and get a custom proposal.
  7. You can move forward with any tasks you want and hold on other tasks. You are never committed. So feel free to outline the whole wish list but then we can phase the project and focus on priorities and you can green-light certain tasks first.
  8. We encourage and practice the Agile development methodology. Define what you can now, phase projects, focus on priorities, develop something test it and play with it, and then continue to improve and tweak. This philosophy allows us to get things up and running much faster and causes less stress for you and for us.

An object is like a tab in a spreadsheet. Lets say you want to track Invoices. Each row in a spreadsheet would be an invoice. Invoices would be 1 object. If you wanted to also track Invoice Line Items related to that Invoice, that would be a second object. Enter total number of objects.

A field is like a column in a spreadsheet. One question of data. Lets say you were tracking an Invoice object and each record would have an Invoice Number, Invoice Date, Amount Due, Date Paid. Then each of those would be fields. That is 4 fields. Enter your estimated total number of fields you think you need to create in Salesforce for all the objects.

Each automated action is a workflow. You can define the criteria of the event and then what you want to happen when that criteria matches. For example when the Opportunity Stage = Contract Sent, then send an email automatically to the operations manager to notify them of the contract sent. Or automatically create a Task that is due in 2 days after the contract is sent to followup with the customer. Estimate the number of automated workflows you think you need. 8 is a good average for what we see.

Average number of reports we see a lot of clients build is 10.

A Dashboard Element is a single graph or data element displayed on a single Dashboard. Lets say you want 3 dashboards, one for Management, one for your Sales Reps, and one for your Support Team, and you want 5 graphs of certain data on each dashboard, then you need 15 dashboard elements.

One alert for example is when the Opportunity goes to Closed Won stage it sends an SMS text message to the shipping manager to alert. Or when Shipping Status is set to Shipped it makes a phone call to the customer to give them their tracking number.

If you can export your data to csv for excel files that are ready to be imported then answer no. If your data is in your current system like ACT or Zoho or which ever and you want us to export your data, select Yes.

An object is like a sheet or tab in an excel file. In Salesforce an object is one tab. Contacts is an object. Those are records of people. One row for each person. Another object is Accounts. These are company records. The most common objects to import are: Leads, Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Activities.

Attachments are documents, files like PDFs, word docs that are related to records. We assume if you have attachments there is some way to relate them to your records.

If you are not sure we will assume less than 1000. Attachments in Salesforce must be under 5MB each.

If you are not sure, you can search on http://appexchange.salesforce.com for an app that provides an integration for your system. Or google "{System Name} Salesforce Integration". Or ask your system provider if they have something to integrate with Salesforce out of the box. If they have an API, then answer No, since it will require a custom integration.
A sync action is considered an event that happens for a sync. Or if you want to setup a daily sync where one sync runs once per day thats one sync action. For example if you want the order information in Salesforce from an Opportunity to be sent to Shipwire api when the Stage is closed won or shipping status is ready to ship, then that is a sync event.

An object is like a sheet or tab in a spreadsheet. In Salesforce some common objects to sync would be: Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, Products, Opportunity Products. Each one is one object. So lets say you want to sync a closed won opportunity to Shipewire with the opportunity products (Line items) to ship wire. And you would need to sync the customer information from Account and Contact. Then you are looking at Opportunity, Account, Contact, Opportunity Products, and maybe Products. That would be 5 objects.

A field is a piece of data in an object. For example on a Contact record fields are: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, City, State, Address, Zip. That is 9 fields. For ALL the objects you are syncing how many total fields are we syncing.
